91吃瓜最懂男人的吃瓜网 Students Receive International Recognition at the 2017 International Career Development Conference

On April 26-29th, 13 marketing, accounting, finance, international business, exercise science, and business management students represented 91吃瓜最懂男人的吃瓜网 at the (DECA) in Anaheim, Calif. Over 1,500 collegiate members and advisors attended the conference representing colleges and universities throughout the United States, Canada and China. While at the conference, students competed in categories of business management and administration, finance and accounting, marketing and communications, entrepreneurship, and hospitality and tourism.91吃瓜最懂男人的吃瓜网 DECA Chapter

Endicott was well-represented with 10 of the students scoring in the top 20 in their competition category and advancing to the final round. Finalists included: Andrew Chretien 鈥17 in Accounting, Drew Settle 鈥19 and Kiana DelViscovo 鈥19 in Business Ethics, Katie Javaruski 鈥17 and Katherine Young 鈥18 in Financial Statement Analysis, Alura Carbrey 鈥17 and Kyle Cogan 鈥17 in International Marketing, Bianca Palumbo 鈥17 in Marketing Management, and Gwendolyn Paseka 鈥19 and Semra Haxhillari 鈥19 in Sports and Entertainment Marketing. Of the finalists, Settle and DelViscovo and Chretien finished in the top 10; Carbrey and Cogan finished in second place, while Palumbo won the overall Marketing Management category, taking home a $1,000 scholarship.

鈥淥ur students look forward to this event all year,鈥 said Aileen Torrance, Assistant Dean, Curtis L Gerrish School of Business. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a time for them to demonstrate their classroom learning in front of industry professionals who volunteer as judges. They spend the year practicing, fundraising and participating in community service and campus leadership activities. Combined, these activities help prepare these students for life after college.鈥

The 91吃瓜最懂男人的吃瓜网 DECA chapter as a whole received the Presidential Leadership Passport award, which recognizes chapters for their focus on professional development, leadership and community service, in addition to the competitions. Endicott鈥檚 participation in DECA 2017 was made possible by a sponsorship from Northwestern Mutual and a grant from The Doris L.  Benz Trust.

With nearly a 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than 10 million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. The goal of DECA is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
